CANMORE – Husband and wife, Henrique Kamida and Riho Kanatsuka, have only lived in Canmore for a few months, but the couple has already ascended to be standouts in Canmore’s tennis community.

Three new champions were crowned in the Canmore Tennis Association’s year-end singles championship tournament at Lions Park on Friday and Saturday (Aug. 22-23).

Kanatsuka and Kamida, Canmore’s queen and king of swing, won the women’s singles and men’s intermediate championship categories, respectively, and Matias Gamboa won the big trophy in advanced men’s singles.

Pleased with the victory, Gamboa said the two-day tournament was really fun, but can be taxing, especially under summer heat.
