LOUISVILLE, Ky. — New details are emerging about the person who killed two children and injured 17 others at a Minneapolis Catholic school Wednesday morning.

The Minneapolis Police Department has identified the shooter as 23-year-old Robin Westman. According to our sister station KARE, the shooter grew up in Richfield, and their mother previously worked at Annunciation School, where the deadly shooting took place.

In an interview with the Associated Press , a former Kentucky state lawmaker Bob Heleringer identified himself as Westman's uncle.

“He was my nephew, and I wish he had shot me instead of innocent schoolchildren,” Heleringer told the AP during a phone interview.
