MONTGOMERY— People from across the country are in Daviess County this weekend for the 38th annual Amish Quilt Auction held Saturday. The event is being held at the Simon J. Graber Building and is a very big event for the Amish community.
“It’s a community event we have for the people who like to do quilting. We have some ladies who don’t have a lot to do in the winter time and they get quilts ready and they get together and we make a community event of it. The money made on the lunches and the bake sale goes to donations for two of our local schools,” said organizer Joanna Swartzentruber. “We also bring in vendors that would have an interest in the community. The money from the quilts goes to the ladies who made them.”
