The fastest passenger train in the United States arrived in Boston's South Station Wednesday evening after debuting in Washington, D.C. earlier that morning.

Amtrak President Roger Harris was one of those aboard the NextGen Acela train, which is promising reliable rides at top speeds of 160 miles per hour, 10 miles per hour faster than the current fleet, which launched 25 years ago. Latest Forecast

"Having new trains will increase reliability and ensure customers get to where they're going on time," Harris said.

The trains connecting Boston to New York and Washington, D.C. will feature a special tilt system to help them navigate curves at high speeds, increasing safety, with more people on board than before.
