CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) - A Greater Cincinnati school board candidate on the November ballot confirms to FOX19 NOW he has at least 20 felony convictions.

Jason Oliver Bates, 52, of Bethel, was certified last week to the Nov. 5 ballot in Clermont County for the Bethel-Tate School Board despite so many felony convictions.

They stem from a 2010 case in Georgia and Tennessee.

“Approximately 15 years ago, I made a horrible decision in my life with my ex-wife. I used somebody’s credit card that I shouldn’t have used,” Bates said Tuesday night when we interviewed him outside Bethel High School as he arrived to attend the school board meeting.

He said he believes he has as many as 23 felony convictions from what police records show were fraudulent debit card transactions in 2012.
