WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - West Springfield has unveiled its final design plans for the complete reconstruction of Main Street, with the project set to begin by next April.

The project will include repaving the entire road, installing granite curbing, and adding new sidewalks. Additionally, five raised crosswalks with curb extensions and push-button lighting will be constructed near high traffic areas, such as the Boys and Girls Club.

"We walked the street and we realized that it wasn't just a resurfacing project. There's a lot of curbing that needs to be done. Sidewalks that need to get done. It's highly populated. A lot of children live in there," said Trevor Wood, West Springfield DPW Director.
