Honolulu officials issued a shark warning via HNL Alert at about 5 p.m. today at Makua Beach.
Ocean Safety said an aggressive, 8-foot tiger shark was observed about 100 yards from shore at at Makua Beach. Signs have been posted, and lifeguards are currently in the area, warning beachgoers of the shark sighting.
“If you see or encounter a shark, notify Ocean Safety personnel or call 911 immediately,” said the alert. “Always check with a lifeguard for the latest ocean and beach conditions.”
