GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Tragic situations due to gun violence can be difficult to grapple with. For many, it poses the question: how would you react in a similar situation? The Gulfport Police Department is doing its part to provide an answer by training the community with its Active Attack Training course.

“You can see them; they start to panic,” said Sgt. Troy Carpenter with Gulfport PD, describing an active shooter situation caught on security cameras in France. “That’s why we’re here.”

With the latest example of an active attack coming on Wednesday during a shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Sgt. Carpenter says he never would’ve believed the number of gun violence incidents that have happened across the country recently.
