CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) - The Riverview Bandshell in Clinton was more than a music venue Wednesday night.
Over 260 people gathered for the community’s 8th annual Overdose and Addiction Awareness Vigil.
“We all come together to support our peers in recovery, in our community and show that support to keep recovery going,” Christine Mensinger with ASAC Prevention said.
The vigil coincides with Overdose Awareness month and landed just before International Overdose Awareness Day this year.
Organizers said the event serves as a powerful evening bringing together individuals facing or who have faced the trials of drug addiction.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be surrounded by people that want the same things and that have experienced some of the tragedies or the homelessness and the loss of hope,”
