SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame’s season opener against Miami is days away, and for the first time since being named the starter, freshman quarterback CJ Carr spoke out.

The young signal-caller edged out Kenny Minchey for the QB1 spot, and all eyes are now on him as the Irish prepare for a top ten showdown on the road.

While Miami leans on experienced veteran Carson Beck — a two-time national champion — Notre Dame is putting its faith in Carr, who hasn’t started a college game yet. Despite the gap in experience, teammates and coaches say they believe he’s ready for the moment.
