While the job market is experiencing an overall slowdown, the healthcare and social assistance sector continues to increase jobs.

Economists pointed out that the healthcare industry is growing as the American population ages, while government data has shown that healthcare and social assistance accounted for all the job gains in July.

Daniel Zhao, Chief Economist at Glassdoor, explained the trend.

"Healthcare is an industry where as the American population gets older, we should expect the demand for healthcare services to increase and that's why we're seeing jobs growth continue very steadily in that sector," Zhao said.
