North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is making another overseas trip next week.

It’s his first visit to China in six years.

He is traveling there to attend a military parade Wednesday marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

This will be the first time since taking power in 2011 that he will be meeting with a large group of world leaders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will be among the 26 foreign leaders in Beijing.

There are few details yet about his trip.

But Kim has made closer ties with Russia a priority of his rule in recent years, supplying troops and ammunition to support Russia’s war against Ukraine.

China, however, is North Korea’s biggest trading partner and main aid provider, despite a sometimes strained relationship.

Many analysts see strong ties between China and North Korea as crucial for Kim’s future goals.
