'South Park' isn't airing a new episode until September. Here's what you need to know

“ South Park ” season 27 has been an unusual one for the series in many ways.

Beyond the explosion of cultural relevance the show has recently rediscovered in its coverage of President Donald Trump , there has been quite a bit of upheaval.

First, Paramount Plus removed “South Park” from its streaming lineup in the midst of a contract dispute, leaving only its specials on the service. Then, after that was resolved and the series returned to Paramount Plus, HBO Max removed the series .

Now, after multiple gaps in its release schedule, the show has made it clear that there will not be a new episode of season 27 until Wednesday, Sep. 3 . The episode which airs after that will not release until another two weeks later, on Wednesday, Sep. 17.
