The ACC’s potential schedule expansion to nine games could be beneficial for Louisville football even if that means the annual Governor’s Cup game against Kentucky abruptly ends or is dramatically altered.

The SEC finally acquiesced and announced last week that it will move to a nine-game conference schedule starting in the 2026 season, making the ACC the only Power Four conference that is still planning on playing eight league games.
