While one Fayetteville City Council member has expressed concerns about the renewal of the ShotSpotter contract after a Duke Law evaluation was presented in closed meetings, some of his colleagues say it's an important tool in the Fayetteville Police Department's toolbox.
City officials gathered in small groups Aug. 13 for meetings on public safety, including a presentation on the gunshot detection system, which is up for contract renewal in September. The city officials were shown a presentation, which included an evaluation of ShotSpotter from Duke Law's Wilson Center for Science and Justice.
