COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Supreme Court has set a date to hear arguments in the case of a Youngstown man whose murder conviction was thrown out by a lower court. The state's top court will hold the hearing in the case of Lavontae Knight on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025.
Knight was sentenced to life in prison in 2022 for the 2018 shooting death of Trevice Harris.
Investigators say that on December 30, 2018, Harris and a woman were forced at gunpoint from the kitchen of a home and driven to another location, where both were shot.
The woman survived her gunshot wounds and identified the shooter as Lavontae Knight. Harris did not survive.
