Blackhawk Hills Regional Council has launched a housing design competition. The initiative aims to promote housing suitable for adults 50 and older as well as families with young children, according to a community announcement.
The competition is funded in part by a grant from AARP. It encourages design professionals and students, including architects, engineers and builders, to participate. Those with a connection to Northwest Illinois, which includes Carroll, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson and Whiteside counties, are especially encouraged to submit their designs.
The competition opens Aug. 11, and entries are due by Oct. 17. Up to six $5,000 prizes are available, with two reserved for participants connected to Northwest Illinois. Additionally, one prize will be awarded based on comm
