July was Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness Greater Corpus Christi held an international potluck dinner and planned for open and honest discussions about minority mental health. I had a list of about 15 questions to start us off/fall back on, but luckily, we didn’t need that list — the conversations flowed organically and were very insightful.

We had a variety of people — some were Filipino, and the Latinx community was represented as were African Americans. Many white people were in attendance as well. The group was made up of different generations; there were people in their 30s to 80s.
