New York —
If we were living in the Netflix drama of my dreams, right about now would be the moment when Jay Powell (played by Kyle Chandler ) slowly rises from his desk at the Federal Reserve, straightens his purple tie, buttons his gray suit jacket, picks up his briefcase and strides to the door. Around him, wall-mounted TVs show cable news banners shouting that President Donald Trump is once again attacking the Fed’s independence.
“Enough,” Jay mutters as string music swells, camera swooping overhead. We follow the Fed chair, our pensive hero, through the bank’s under-construction headquarters and out the door. He’s marching down a sun-drenched Constitution Ave, the White House in his periphery.
