Netflix has just added a 'gruesome' historical epic to its roster, described as 'Lord of the Rings meets Kill Bill'.
The Northman, available on the streaming platform from today (August 28), is a unique period drama that should appeal to fans of the series Vikings.
Originally released in 2022, it was directed by renowned filmmaker Robert Eggers , known for his work on The Lighthouse and Nosferatu.
Eggers co-wrote the script with Icelandic poet Sjón, a long-time collaborator with singer Björk, who also features in the film. The star-studded cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy and Willem Dafoe.
Like many of Eggers' films, The Northman draws inspiration from history and mythology, even sharing elements with Shakespeare's Hamlet. READ M
