The Baltimore Orioles moved rookie pitcher Brandon Young to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, ending his season.

The team placed Young on the 15-day IL Friday with a left hamstring strain, but elected to shift the right-handed starter to the 60-day list once it became apparent he wouldn't be able to recover before the end of September.

In other moves Wednesday, the Orioles called up right-handed pitcher Roansy Contreras and infielder Emmanuel Rivera from Triple-A Norfolk. To make room, they designated infielder Vimael Machin for assignment and optioned right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo to Norfolk.

Prior to this setback, the 27-year-old Young had seen his share of struggles this season as he posted a 1-7 record and a 6.24 ERA over 12 starts. Young allowed 12 home runs over 57 2/3 innings with 47 st
