During the past 25 years or so, Tommy Clufetos has played drums for Mitch Ryder, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and both Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath — among others.

Now the highly credentialed Detroit native, now living near Nashville, is trying some of his own.

Tommy’s RockTrip is a band Clufetos, 45, has formed with three 20-something musicians in Tennessee. The quartet has released a pair of songs so far — “My Wild Child” and “My Baby Likes to Rock ‘n’ Roll” — and Clufetos promises there’s more on the runway. “It’s hard-driving, heavy, Detroit-edged rock ‘n’ roll,” he says. “My rehearsal room is like it’s 1970 at the MC5 house or something like that. We just sweat and play 100 percent live in the same room, no click track or headphones, even.
