SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - The city of Sikeston is split between New Madrid and Scott Counties, but now those living there will receive just one tax bill.

This comes after a recent move by the Sikeston City Council.

During Monday’s council meeting, city leaders authorized an agreement that will outsource the city tax collections and create a single tax billing and collection office.

Not only will residents get a single tax bill, they will have the option to pay online, something that wasn’t previously available for Sikeston City taxes.

According to the City, by entering into an agreement with the counties, there will be a 3 percent charge in collections in Scott County and a 2 percent charge in New Madrid County and this charge is to the city, not citizens.
