‘Wake Up Everybody!’ Gavin Newsom Warns Trump Is ‘Setting Up’ To Stay in Power

California Gov. Gavin Newsom accused President Donald Trump of building “the world’s largest private police force” through a $75 billion expansion of ICE and warned the president has no intention of leaving office after a second term.

Speaking at Politico’s inaugural California Policy Summit , the Democratic governor cast Trump’s plans as an existential threat to democracy.

“You think people actually think this guy’s serious about having another election? You think he’s joking about 2028?” Newsom said.

Pressed on the question by Politico’s California Editorial Director Chris Cadelago , the governor replied: “I don’t think Donald Trump wants another election.”
