AURORA, Colo. (KKTV) - A car theft suspect was arrested after a police pursuit in Aurora on Saturday.

According to the Aurora Police Department (APD), flock cameras alerted officers just before 5 p.m. to a stolen Chevy Express van near 16th Street and Dayton Valley.

Officers found the van and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect was identified as John Raspitha, 34, who police said has a long history with law enforcement.

A pursuit began, and police attempted multiple unsuccessful PIT maneuvers. A flat tire eventually brought the van to a stop near East 14th Street between Poplar and Pontiac.

According to police, the suspect then refused to exit the van despite repeated commands. Officers reportedly tried to breach the window with a 40mm, which didn’t work, so they used another tool to
