DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) - The Iowa Public Broadcasters Board is asking Governor Kim Reynolds to approve $3 million in funding for fiscal year 2027 following massive budget cuts, KCCI reports .

The Iowa Public Broadcasters Board talked about the request at a meeting Wednesday, after Congress approved President Donald Trump’s plan to cut $9 million in public broadcasting funding.

The $3 million in funding would be used to cover new transmitters in Waterloo and Sioux City.

The board is looking at various ways it can come up with funds, including possibly charging for meet-and-greet events.
