The drugged driving charge against former Dave Matthews Band violinist Boyd Tinsley, who allegedly slammed his sport utility vehicle into another motor car last year, was dropped Tuesday when a prosecutor unexpectedly made a motion to withdraw the charge.

The move came roughly half an hour before the musician's case was slated to be heard in Albemarle County General District Court, and the prosecutor declined to explain afterward why he dropped the case. Music
