Boston Red Sox infielder Abraham Toro continues to prove he’s a cut above minor league competition.
Toro went 2-for-4 on Wednesday night for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, smashing a double—his eighth of the season—and a home run, his third.
Over 128 plate appearances in Worcester this year, Toro is slashing .306/ .398/ .500. Yet, Toro remains caught in the limbo between Triple-A and the big leagues.
At 28, Toro’s versatility across infield positions and hot stretches in the majors suggest he’s too talented for Triple-A. Still, Toro went through a prolonged slump and was unable to lock down a permanent role in the majors this year, which coincided with Boston going out and snagging first baseman Nathaniel Lowe , a revelation so far.
