SHREVERPORT, La. -- A recent case of alleged child sex abuse in Caddo Parish has prompted local authorities to host a series of seminars aimed at helping the public recognize warning signs and protect children.

Investigators say a Keithville man sexually assaulted a young child and left them for dead three weeks ago. An arrest has been made in that case, but the disturbing nature of the allegations led officials to create a new educational initiative.

The first of three workshops was held Monday at Sheriff’s Safety Town , located at 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport. The session, organized by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, focused on recognizing behavioral changes in children, noting avoidance of physical contact, and identifying other potential red flags.
