HAUGHTON, La. — A precautionary boil water advisory for residents of Haughton has been extended through the holiday weekend after a water main repair.

The Bossier Parish Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 issued the advisory for customers who receive water from the Village Water System.

Late today, work crews repaired a water valve that failed in the Sterling Ranch Subdivision, requiring a temporary shutdown of water service. As a precaution, the advisory was issued for homes from 1 Sterling Ranch Road to 86 Meadow Cove, along with all of Eliga Street.

Residents in the affected areas should boil tap water for at least one full minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Even filtered water should be boiled.
