PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- With Labor Day on Monday, local government buildings will be closed.

All city of Peoria offices are set to be closed on Sept. 1 for Labor Day, said city spokeswoman Stacy Peterson.

All buildings, however, will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 2, she said.

Peoria County will also experience closures with the Peoria County Courthouse, Health and Human Services, Veterans Assistance Commission, Election Commission, Animal Protection Services and Highway Department offices will all be closed, said county spokesman Tim Shelley.

"The upcoming closure will not affect open adoption hours at PCAPS this Saturday, Aug. 30. Animal control officers can be reached at 309-674-3131 on the holiday during normal hours," he said.
