Three Macomb County residents have now pleaded guilty to conspiring to conduct a $3 million federal program scheme related to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to federal authorities.
Rita Shaba, 39, of Macomb Township and Samer Kammo, 45 of Shelby Township pleaded guilty Tuesday in front of Judge Jonathan J.C. Grey to conspiring to commit wire fraud and bank fraud of the Paycheck Protection Program, U.S. Attorneys said in a news release. Christina Anasi, 35, of Shelby Township, pleaded guilty a year ago to conspiracy.
Shaba faces a Jan. 5 sentencing while Anasi’s punishment will be revealed Jan. 7 and Kammo will be sentenced Jan. 15, officials said. The defendants each face a maximum sentence of up to 30 years imprisonment.
