A Michigan State Troop desperately tried to alert and stop a drunk driver going the wrong way amid opposing traffic on a Macomb County freeway before the driver’s SUV collided head on with another SUV, killing a Harper Woods man.

Trooper Lulu Ghannam activated her patrol vehicles’ emergency lights and sirens, attempted a “pit maneuver” and shined her vehicle spotlight at the subject vehicle numerous times on Interstate 696 in May 2024 in the minutes before Stephano Nabors’s Jeep Liberty collided with a Chevy SUV driven by Steven Vannorstrand, 62, who was killed, according to her testimony at video shown Wednesday at Nabor’s trial.
