CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A fake document scam appears to be targeting undocumented immigrants, according to the Chatham County Police Department.

Over the past few weeks, officers have engaged in several traffic stops where drivers presented fake documentation labeled as an International Driver’s License.

The fake documents say they were issued by the USAID and the USAIDP Auto Club.

Chatham County Police believes people are paying as much as $1,000 for the documents, which do not carry legal authority. Carrying these documents and presenting them as identification can carry a potential felony forgery charge which could result in an arrest.

The Chatham County Police Department is concerned that people may buy these fake documents and end up in trouble with the law as a result.
