MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Morristown West High School teacher was charged with sexual battery by an authority figure, according to court documents.
Hamblen County Court records obtained by WVLT say Dennis G. Cupp was accused of using a ruler to make unlawful sexual contact with a 16-year-old female on May 21.
According to those court records, two “witnesses were present during the incident and the defendant admitted to this during a voluntary interview on 8/27/25.”
In a statement to WVLT from Hamblen County Schools Superintendent Arnold Bunch said he was made aware of the allegation on Wednesday.
Cupp was suspended as a teacher with Hamblen County Schools pending investigation, and removed from the classroom, according to Bunch’s statement.
