HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Morristown-Hamblen West High School teacher faces charges of sexual battery by an authority figure, a general sessions court document showed.

Greg Cupp, 47, of Whitesburg, is a physical science teacher. Court records state that on May 21, he used a ruler to "make unlawful sexual contact" with a 16-year-old girl's buttocks. Two witnesses saw the incident, and on Wednesday, Cupp admitted to doing it, court records stated.

Cupp was suspended pending investigation after Director of Schools Arnold Bunch learned about the incident on Wednesday. He has been removed from the classroom.
