PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority’s (RIPTA) board of directors will meet to consider a revised service change plan.
This comes just days after Governor Dan McKee and RIPTA CEO Chris Durand announced an 11th hour proposal .
The new plan would avoid eliminating any routes but could still see reductions in Sunday and holiday service.
RIDOT Director Peter Alviti, who’s also the chair of RIPTA’s board, has already said he will vote for the new plan.
The new plan aims to preserve the RIde Anywhere program for riders with disabilities, keep routes to CCRI and URI in place, and protect core service for Providence public school students.
The revised plan is also looking at “targeted staffing adjustments,” and a multi-year fare adjustment plan.
