WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE)– Many residents at the Shalom Apartments in Warwick are upset about the planned closure of a store located in the lobby of one of the apartment buildings.

The store has been in operation for 47 years, and according to residents, they’ve been told that it will close on Sept. 1.

President of the Shalom Tenants Association Donna Parenteau said that residents were only officially told that the store would be closing two weeks ago, saying that wasn’t enough notice.

She and other residents said that management had not been returning their calls about the store’s closure.

In the meantime, though, they had created a petition asking management to keep the store open.

That petition garnered around 150 signatures, which was a majority of the Shalom Apartments’ residents.
