PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mourners lined the inside of the convention center in Providence Thursday afternoon to pay their respects to Judge Frank Caprio.

People from all over the world shared grief and sorrow for the lost judge, but also joy as they looked back at his legacy.

“In 2025, with all the divide going on in the world, he showed if you can live life with pure intention,” Ed Brady said. “Just by living good, you can inspire, and thousands of people are here to show love and respect to his beautiful legacy and family.”

The judge died on Aug. 20 at the age of 88 after a long battle with cancer.

Caprio’s impacts were felt strongly at home in Rhode Island, where he was born and raised, and those who knew him in his early days said he’d been changing lives for decades.
