CLEMSON — Steve Spurrier spent ample time in both Death Valleys as the Head Ball Coach at South Carolina, Florida and Duke.
But don’t expect the SEC legend to have a strong opinion on whether Clemson’s Memorial Stadium or LSU’s Tiger Stadium is the fiercest Death Valley.
“I couldn’t tell ya,” said Spurrier, relaying to The Post and Courier that his coach’s headset was quite effective at blocking out crowd noise during games.
“To me, it’s Clemson,” he added, “because we only lost one, won five (at LSU) while I was at Florida. So they weren’t much of a factor. Some of the wins were pretty big, actually.”
Clemson’s crowd only gets slightly more credit, in Spurrier’s eyes, because the Gamecocks held a 3-2 record in Memorial Stadium during his decade at the helm.
