KENNEDY JR. on Wed. attempted to fire Susan Monarez, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, after a disagreement over Kennedy’s “unscientific” vaccination policy, but she refused to step down , the New York Times reported. The White House late Wed. said it, too, had fired Monarez, but her lawyer said the firing was “legally deficient,” because the president himself is required to announce it.

Kennedy had announced via a tweet that COVID-19 vaccine access would be restricted to higher risk groups — but excluded high-risk children and pregnant women.
