KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The search for a missing plane is over after authorities in Buffalo County found the crash site about 12 hours after it lost contact.
The Kearney Police Department and Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said in a joint release, first responders with the assistance of drones located the crash site of the white Cessna plane northeast of Kearney.
According to the release, a pilot and passenger were found dead on scene.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported an overdue aircraft that was routed to the Kearney Regional Airport and had lost contact with the plane. The aircraft’s last known location was reported in an area several miles north of the Kearney Regional Airport.
