Video captures moment pedestrian nearly hit by wheel that flew off truck involved in wreck

BEAUMONT, Texas — A pedestrian narrowly escaped injury Thursday morning when a wheel from a pickup truck flew toward him in a convenience store parking following wreck in a nearby Port Arthur intersection.

Surveillance footage from the convenience store captured the moment the wheel nearly struck a man using a cane in the store's parking lot.

The two-vehicle wreck happened at about 11 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Dequeen Blvd and Gulfway Dr.

The man was walking in the store's parking lot near the intersection when two pickup trucks collided, sending debris in his direction.

A black pickup truck traveling southbound on Dequeen Blvd stopped at a stop sign before proceeding into the intersection, then struck a green pickup that was headed eastbound green on Gulfway Dr, a Port Arth
