MD touts increased land productive while generating more revenue for municipal services

Alberta conservation groups are raising concerns about a Municipal District of Taber proposal to convert more than 12 square kilometres of municipally held native grasslands into irrigated land for growing crops.

In a Tuesday news release, the Wildlife Society’s Alberta chapter, Alberta Wilderness Association, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (Southern Alberta Chapter), Nature Alberta and Southern Alberta Group for the Environment urged the southern Alberta rural municipality to keep the six sections of land, located east of Vauxhall, as grassland.
