Amelia Escalante and her friend Jan Furman were shocked to discover a kitten had been trapped inside the bottom of Escalante's car during a long drive home from Sacramento to Santa Cruz. That's well over 100 miles.
"It must have just climbed right up there," Escalante said. "When it came down to Santa Cruz with me … the first instinct was this cat needs to be rescued, and it needs love."
Circle Star Motors, an autobody shop, immediately stepped in to help.
Max Eder, the owner, said, "I just couldn't believe that this car drove for hours, and there was this little kitten still alive in it. And so, it just became kind of like this mission."
