Chilliwack police say a teenager was arrested Wednesday after several public assaults involving bear spray in a matter of hours.

The Chilliwack RCMP says it responded to three incidents of reported illegal use of bear spray overnight between Aug. 26 and Aug 27.

Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 14-year-old was sprayed in Central Park and required emergency medical help.

Another person was sprayed outside a local pub around 10 p.m. the same night. Police say the victim was identified but declined to pursue an investigation.

Mounties say the most serious incident happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, near Sardis Secondary School, where one person was sprayed after a “group altercation.”

“In the third case, officers quickly identified and arrested a 15-year-old suspect nearby,” said a statement
