Area organizations like the Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit — a nonprofit that provides furniture and mattresses to families in need throughout Oakland, Wayne and Macomb counties — are essential to local communities. On Sept. 4, people can bid on refurbished pieces from the recent Furniture Flip Challenge to support a good cause.
“Furniture is so much more than comfort,” says Diane Charles, president and CEO. “It provides dignity, stability and a fresh start. Every castoff item flipped through this challenge directly supports our mission to furnish hope for families overcoming homelessness, domestic violence or loss from disasters. Michigan’s furniture flippers are turning items that would have gone to a landfill into lifelines for those rebuilding their lives.”
