Generally speaking, Darren Aronofsky doesn't do "light." The director's films, from "Requiem for a Dream" to "Noah" to "Black Swan," "The Fountain" and "mother!" tend to be the kinds of experiences viewers need to brace themselves for, and require a cooling off period after.
So the 1998-set "Caught Stealing" is a bit of a switch-up for the New York filmmaker. It's a rousing chase movie with multiple murders, an injured kitty and a parade of dudes you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, but for Aronofsky, it's as close to a good time romp as he's approached thus far in his nearly 30-year career.
