MONROE — Kenneth Pegler’s Michigan prison time for crashing into a Bedford Township house more than two years ago, seriously injuring a couple sleeping in their bedroom, officially began Thursday afternoon with his formal sentencing in Monroe County Circuit Court.
That his 38 months for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury — minus 37 days for Michigan jail time already served — will be concurrent with his Ohio prison time for drunkenly running over a bicyclist last summer in Toledo was briefly acknowledged by Circuit Judge Daniel S. White during Pegler’s sentencing hearing.
“It’s better than nothing,” Theresa Kahle said at the conclusion of the twice-postponed sentencing, in which Pegler participated by video link from the Marion Correctional Institution in Ohio.
