BAY CITY, MI – Tensions were high in the courtroom as a man accused of killing 28-year-old Kane E. Crockett appeared for a hearing in Bay City this week.

Shawn D. Meredith Jr., 33, is accused of fatally shooting Crockett at the intersection of 18th and South Sherman streets in Bay City in the early hours of March 15.

Meredith faces multiple charges in connection with the incident, including felony murder, armed robbery, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.

On Wednesday, Aug. 27, Meredith went before Bay County District Court Judge Timothy J. Kelly for a preliminary examination.
